Historic garden cages uncommon fungus

A historic garden found a rare fungus that must be caged to protect it from collectors who think it can fight dementia & cancer. 

A volunteer in Cornwall, England, spotted the Bearded Tooth mushroom. 

They found another fungus in Buggingham Palace, a "bug hotel." 

Local & national fungal experts advised staff on the mystical mushroom's collector appeal.

According to research, it fights memory loss, depression, dementia, anxiety, cancer, & neurological problems. 

It breaks down decaying wood in woodland ecosystems. Toby Davies, the gardens' wildlife supervisor, said this fungus is usually seen in deep woodland.
